Natura Morta, the Latin term for still life or dead nature, is the title of a new exhibition by
Christine Willcocks that focuses on the collective nature of ornithological forms. This series,
comprising of recent prints, paintings and sculptures, responds to the transient space that
hovers between life and death, where the ritual of collecting plays a key role in the
preservation of memory. Through commemorating the lives of these birds, the artist
constructs a narrative suggestive of human loss and the attempts made to preserve
and keep physical attachments.
