Newtown Fine Art Traders is available for hire to emerging and established artists who would like further
exposure
and to broaden their client base. Interstate galleries are also welcome to submit proposals in
order to gain and service their National client base. Professional and friendly curatorial staff are available
to provide
assistance where
applicable and appropriate.
The Gallery is a new purpose built space with approximately 36m of hanging space. Running wall length
can be greater due to the
configuration of the space (please contact us for more details)
The walls are white painted brick work and a state of the art hanging system is installed, no holes are
to be drilled into walls.
There are halogen light fittings installed which are adjustable
Facilities include: office desk with chair, bathroom, bar fridge and kitchen area.
Rental for the space is $1,000 per week plus GST with a maximum rental period of two weeks. A bond of
$500 applies. This will be refunded in full upon vacation of the premises and return of key.
A deposit of 25% is payable on receipt of your invoice which confirms your booking. The balance is payable
when you receive the keys.
Costs for opening night such as drinks and staff are to be covered by the exhibiting artist. (Glasses are supplied)
All other costs such as postage, printing, advertising, insurance and freight are to be covered by the
exhibiting artist.
The gallery is to be vacated in the same state as of commencement of exhibition or a cleaning fee will apply.
Artists are responsible for appropriate staffing and supervision of the gallery at all opening times.
The Gallery Director is to approve any marketing material if being managed by artist, including print invitations.
Marketing material is
to include gallery
logo, telephone number, address, email and website address.
The artist is responsible for the installation and dismantling of the exhibition - gallery staff can be available for
assistance with hanging if required.
Exhibition installation occurs the day preceding the opening.
It is important to artists to note that gallery insurance does not cover their work or their public liability.
The exhibition will be included on the gallery website, artists are to provide high resolution images of work
to director three weeks
prior to the opening night.
Additional costs involved (if required): Design and printing of invitations (postcard size) $440, Mailing of
invitations to the gallery mailing list $400 (including label print, postage extra), Email to gallery mailing list $200.
HOW TO APPLY
An illustrated proposal should be made to the gallery director, Liz Buchmann. Digital images: please provide
in jpeg format on CD. Past publications, invitations, exhibition reviews may be added as support material.
Please include a sufficiently stamped, sufficiently sized self-addressed envelope for return of support material.
We are unable to return material if you provide an envelope with insufficient postage, or of the wrong size.
Proposal to include at least 8 images of work including any completed works that are to be included in the show.
Including information on works, ie. medium, size etc.
Proposal must include: Main contact person and contact details, Names of all applicants if a group show is being
proposed, preferred exhibition times ie. which month/year, a short summary of your work, a curriculum vitae.
A standard agreement for a one-off show will be used to cover the period of the exhibition.
