Terri Butterworth began her studies at Sydney's Gymea Technical College in 1970 studying freeform ceramics.
A move to the United States in 1974 gave her the opportunity to attend The Lincoln Art Institute in New England
and, later, the Ontario Seneca College, Canada, where she concentrated on Oil Painting and Sculpture. In 1978,
Terri moved back to the United States to continue her studies. She had two successsful solo shows in Michigan City
in 1979/80 and in the same years won the Inidana State Tri Kappa Purchase Award. A move west to Santa Barbara,
California in 1980, allowed her to continue her studies. Terri entered into two years of full time study in Fine Arts at
Santa Barbara City College, graduating in 1982
